You can use a heat gun or blow dryer in place of boiling water.

Step 1

I used boiling water, but you can use a heat gun or a hair dryer on low heat to melt the wax easier. Get most of the wax melted, and dump into the trash. Do NOT dump it down the sink or drain. 

Use a paper towel to wipe out the wicks and other wax that didn’t pour out. Once you have melted it, the wicks will pop or fall right out and the wax is soft enough to scrape out. 

Repeat the melting and wiping with a paper as needed until the wax is completely gone. You can wash the dough bowl with warm water and soap to get it squeaky clean. Get it as dry as you can with a rag or paper towel. then you let it air dry. Make sure it’s completely dry before styling it. 

Now is the fun party! Styling your dough bowl! Here are some ideas you can use for styling dough bowls. Many of these are neutral that I use year round in my own home and then can add seasonal pieces to it. I use our jar candles in a lot of my dough bowls. My go to for dough bowl decor is hobby lobby, target and dollar general.
